Salah Surpasses Cole with 188 Goals, Sets Sights on Rooney's Record

Mohamed Salah has added another milestone to his glittering Premier League career, surpassing Andrew Cole’s goal tally with his 188th strike, and now has Wayne Rooney firmly in his sights.

The Liverpool forward etched his name further into the league’s history books over the weekend, moving into fifth place on the all-time Premier League scorers list. Cole, a Manchester United great, had long held the fifth spot with 187 goals, a mark Salah eclipsed in typically clinical fashion.

Now, only Thierry Henry (190), Sergio Agüero (184), Wayne Rooney (208), and record-holder Alan Shearer (260) remain ahead of the Egyptian star. With Salah’s consistency and fitness, passing Rooney is no longer a question of “if” but “when.”

Salah, 33, continues to defy expectations, maintaining his form deep into his career while leading Liverpool’s attack with the same sharpness that marked his debut season in 2017.

“Records are always an honor, but my focus is on helping the team,” Salah said post-match. “If the goals keep coming, that’s a bonus.”

As Liverpool push for another title challenge, Salah’s pursuit of Rooney adds another layer of drama to the season and yet more reason for fans to keep a close eye on the Egyptian King.
