Andre Onana Set for Loan Move to Trabzonspor Amid Manchester United Scrutiny

Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana is on the verge of completing a loan move to Turkish side Trabzonspor, as the Cameroonian shot-stopper looks to revive his form following a wave of criticism in England.

While the deal is still being finalized, sources close to the negotiations expect a swift agreement, potentially allowing Onana to debut as early as Sunday against Fenerbahçe. With the Turkish transfer window open until Friday, Trabzonspor has a narrow but manageable window to secure the move.

Onana, currently on international duty with Cameroon, had also attracted interest from Galatasaray, though the Istanbul giants ultimately chose to pursue Turkish international Uğurcan Çakır instead. That decision has left Trabzonspor eager to capitalize, viewing Onana as a potential game-changer for their season.

The anticipated move follows Manchester United’s recent acquisition of Senne Lammens, a promising young goalkeeper from Club Brugge—seen by many as a long-term replacement and a signal that Onana’s future at Old Trafford is uncertain.

Onana has faced mounting criticism from United fans and football pundits alike over a string of inconsistent performances, particularly his struggles with shot-stopping and command of the penalty area during key Premier League and Champions League fixtures.

Despite the setbacks, the 29-year-old remains a goalkeeper of considerable talent and experience. Trabzonspor insiders believe that a change of environment could help him rediscover the form that once made him one of Europe's top keepers during his time at Ajax and Inter Milan.

Fans in both Turkey and Cameroon will be watching closely, as Onana looks to turn the page and begin a new chapter in his career.
